Education Support : Partha Sarkar’s Journey from Village to Diploma Holder
Education support programs play an important role in changing a student’s life, especially for the indigenous population. Partha Sarkar is one such beneficiary. Partha Sarkar is a resident of indigenous village of Sardarpara in Kumarkhali Serkandi. His father Sushanta Sarkar is a sawmill labor and mother Putul Sarkar is a housewife. He is the elder of two siblings. The poor family was struggling to pay for Partha’s education. At such times ‘Child Animation Centre’, an education support program run by FAIR, plays a vital role in providing special support to Partha’s educational journey. This aid is a symbol of hope and dreams not only for Partha but for the entire adibasi village.
In 2007, Partha Kumarkhali was enrolled in a nursery class at the ‘Child Animation Centre’ in Adivasi Para. The program was designed to provide essential educational support to children from marginalized communities, where the importance of education has not yet taken root. No one from the community in Partha had ever passed primary school before running this program in the Kumarkhali adibasi neighborhood. Composed mainly of day laborers and low-income earners, the community lacked awareness of the value of education, leading to high rates of child labor and child marriage in the community.
The Child Animation Center has played an important role in the life of Partha. Run by a dedicated animator, the center not only ensures children like Partha’s admission to mainstream schools but also provides the support they need to improve their education and continue their study. The animator acts as a parent, ensuring school attendance including preparing daily school lession and organizing monthly parent meetings to raise awareness about the importance of education. Fair-Child Animation Center plays an important role in adibasi villages to reduce dropout rate and eliminate child marriage by changing the mentality of these communities.
Partha passed SSC exam 2018 which no one in his community had achieved before. Buoyed by his success, Partha completed his Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Kushtia Garai Polytechnic Institute in 2023. This achievement not only marked a significant personal victory for Partha but also served as an inspiration to other children in his community to pursue education.
Currently, Partha is looking for jobs that match his qualifications. But his journey does not end here. He is determined to continue his education and hopes to further his studies, which will enable his to contribute more effectively to his family and community.
Partha’s story highlights the transformative impact of education support in marginalized communities. Through the intervention of programs like the Child Animation Center, children who once followed in their parents’ footsteps as day laborers are now breaking free from the cycle of poverty and illiteracy. Not only to provide academic support; It is about opening up new opportunities and empowering individuals to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
Let the Partha government’s journey serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting educational initiatives in marginalized communities. With continued education support, more children like Partha’s can achieve their dreams and create a brighter future for generations to come.
