Govt urged to improve social status of Dalits, Harijan people

Politicians and journalists on Saturday urged the government to take steps for improving the social status of Dalits and Harijan, two backward communities.
They made the call at a seminar organised by Bangladesh Harijan Oikya Parishad at National Press Club in the capital.
Secretary general of the organisation Nirmal Chandra Das read out the keynote paper at the programme titled ‘Inclusion of Dalits and Harijan communities in the development programmes of the country’.
