Iftar Distribution for Poor: Supporting the Needy During Ramadan
The Iftar distribution for poor initiative began on April 18, 2021, to support the daily wage workers, rickshaw pullers, small business owners, and domestic workers who have been severely affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Many of these individuals have lost their jobs and are struggling to survive, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. To bring some relief, 100 fasting individuals, including 21 police officers on duty, received Iftar distribution for poor on the fourth day of the program.
This Iftar distribution for poor initiative is a joint effort by FAIR, a rights based snd Development organization, Oitijya Parishad, Kushtia, and Durjog Protirodhe Samajik Uddog, Kushtia. The month-long program aims to provide Iftar meals to the most vulnerable. Each Iftar box contains chola ghugni, vegetable chops, dauler bara, dates, muri, jilapi, banana, carrots, guava, and cucumber. Volunteers like Apu Hossain, Md. Arafat, Nafeez, Robin Kumar, Tawsif, and Kaushik Ahmed have been working tirelessly to deliver these meals to the needy every day. The entire program is supervised by Dewan Akhtaruzzaman, Director of FAIR.
The Iftar distribution for poor has received financial backing from well-wishers, friends, and local members of the organizations. Their contributions have played a significant role in ensuring the daily distribution of Iftar meals to those in need. Today, 100 people, including fasting individuals who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and police officers maintaining lockdown duties, benefited from this initiative.
With more financial support, this program can reach even more people in the coming days. Each Iftar box costs around Rs.40, and we invite anyone willing to contribute to join us in this noble effort. All financial records are meticulously maintained, and any questions regarding the expenditure will be promptly addressed.
