Amidst an impressive array of national and international innovations, the Mendel Science Club’s project, “Nano Mime BD”, stood out, earning first place in the competition. The AI-powered device, designed to assist speech-impaired individuals, uses sensor technology and artificial intelligence to translate gestures and emotions into speech, making communication easier for those with disabilities.
What is ‘Nano Mime BD’?
The Nano Mime BD is a nano-technology-based communication device that empowers speech-impaired individuals to express themselves more effectively. Featuring high-sensitivity sensors and an AI-driven processing unit, it detects movements, signals, and touches to convert them into speech. Compact and wearable on the wrist, this innovative device is designed for practical, everyday use.

Launched in 2019 in Kushtia, the core goal of this project was to cultivate scientific thinking, problem-solving abilities, and creative innovation among students. Through FAIR’s implementation and BFF’s financial and strategic support, 30 science clubs were formed across Kushtia Sadar upazila. These clubs organize monthly activities, problem-based projects, and exhibitions.
