Iftar distribution : A Lifeline for the Needy during Ramadan
A month-long iftar distribution program started on April 14, 2021, the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, in a joint initiative by the non-governmental organization FAIR, This initiative is mainly aimed at providing Iftar distribution to those affected by the coronavirus pandemic, particularly the unemployed, distressed, and helpless people. One of the primary goals of the program is to offer Iftar distribution to individuals who are marginally poor, unemployed, and have lost their livelihoods due to the impact of the pandemic.
Under the program, Iftar distribution is being provided through iftar boxes containing chola ghugni, vegetable chops, doubler Braa, dates, muri, jilapi, banana, carrot, and cucumber. Volunteers are tirelessly delivering these packets directly to people in need. On the first day alone, 60 iftar packets were distributed, and there are plans to increase this number in the coming days. The average cost of each iftar packet is only Rs.40, and the program is being funded by kind-hearted well-wishers, friends, and members of the organization.
Through this program, we aim to provide Food Support as iftar, especially to those who have become unemployed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Our focus is to stand by people facing extreme financial difficulties, ensuring that they have access to a meal during Ramadan. We want to bring relief to the marginalized, poor, helpless, and unemployed by providing Food Support as iftar.
A team of volunteers including Apu Hossain, Arafat, Nafeez, Robin Kumar, and Kaushik Ahmed are actively working on the ground. The overall supervision of the program is being managed by Dewan Akhtaruzzaman, Director of Fair and General Secretary of Heritage Council, Kushtia.
The success of this initiative largely depends on the financial contributions from local people and organization members. To further expand this Food Support as iftar distribution, we need more financial assistance. You too can contribute to this great cause and help provide food to the unemployed and helpless this Ramadan.
